HÖGA KUSTEN - Sweden's High Coast Trail (Northern Section)
On June 1st, 2024, after just completing another one of Sweden's famous hikes, the Jämtland's Triangle; I had the opportunity to undertake the northern portion of the Höga Kusten from Örnsköldsvik to Docksta. This section also includes Balesudden Nature Reserve, Skuleskogan National Park and Skuleberget Nature Reserve.
While I spent 4 days in total on the Höga Kusten, I documented the first three days of the hike and tried to include a mix of information to look out for and combine it with my usual mix of cinematic video shots.
Here is a direct link to the written blog with all the photos taken throughout the hike:

JÄMTLANDS TRIANGLE - An Offseason Trek
Просмотров 3582 месяца назад
On May 28th, 2024, I began a 4-day solo trek along what's known as the Jämtland's Triangle. This famous Swedish hike is off in Jämtland County along the border of Norway and stretches approximately 46km's. This time of year is considered "off-season" and as you'll see, I encountered nobody on the trail. Here is a direct link to the written blog with all the photos taken throughout the hike: www...
SCOTLAND - A Week of Adventure

Having visited all the other countries making up the United Kingdom, it was only fitting that I saved my own personal lineage for last. Outstanding beauty and natural landscape was to be expected, but never did I manage THIS! One week of adventure starting off at Ben Nevis before hitting the Isle of Skye and the Cairngorms National Park. If you're interested in checking out my video of Ben Nevi...
BEN MACDUI - UK's Second Highest Mountain (Scotland)

After hiking the CMD route of Ben Nevis a few days prior, I thought what better way to see some more of Scotland than to hike up the Cairngorm's highest mountain. This was filmed back in May of 2023 during my week long trip to Scotland but due to other priorities, I've only just got around to putting this together. If you're interested in checking out my video of Ben Nevis, you can find that li...

2023 was an incredible year of experiences, both travel and personal. One aspect I love about putting these end of year videos together, is the reminiscing that naturally occurs while syphoning through each carefully chosen clip. While most of 2023 was spent in Norway, a week long trip to Scotland in May was a magical highlight and now I find myself living back in Åre, Sweden where I once lived...
Hiking in NORWAY - SEGLA PÅ SENJA

In August of 2023, four different nationalities came together on Norway's second largest island to summit the mountain known as Segla. While I did take the time to film this hike, it was originally meant to be part of a combined video, hence the shortened length compared to my usual timeframes. In July of 2023, my friend Jillian came out to visit me in Norway for a 10 days and one of our adventures consisted of the infamous Besseggen Ridge walk. JÄMTLAND x HÄRJEDALEN - A Swedish Vacation
Thanks for this vid, trying to get as much info as possible on whether doing the CMD route is actually hikeable as there's very mixed views online, this really helped get a better idea. I figured the mixed views are mostly because people have different capabilities, but some people are saying you need specialist gear, including ice climbing gear?! Would you mind sharing what you found challenging about the walk? Was it mostly just the length/gradient? Im fine with scrambling, im mostly just worried that i'll come to a section im not prepared for and have to turn back - am i overthinking it? I've done other munros before without much difficulty, doing a highlands trip next week and am really hoping to do the CMD route 🤞
How long did this take?
Beatiful mts view i hope no more gray man of ben macdhui😃
Nice 👍
Thanks @@stigfloberghagenphotography !! I really appreciate that. 😊
@@chasedavidsson 👍
I swear I saw this situation somewhere on a tv show!!! Am I crazy or was this in a show?
@@clockinimicum It was! We ended up getting featured on an episode of National Geographic’s Extreme Rescues series! 😄
@@chasedavidsson such a good ep! Fav of the show by far. Not sure I’ve seen anyone else come that close to death and live through it nvm have to go back over that bridge
@@clockinimicum Thanks! Corey is a solid trooper being able to pull it together and get back over the bridge.
Hey, isn't that one of the best forwards in Harstad Mariners' history?
@@Norwegianoiler Free agent frenzy came and left. Heard he’s holding out for that long term deal.
Had a smile on my face the whole time watching this 😀 So thoughtfully filmed! Love your sense of adventure! ⛰️🏞️🗺️🧭🏕️
That’s amazing to hear! I’m so glad you enjoyed my style and the adventure. More to come one of these days! 😁
Awesome Video! Makes me want to do long-distance hiking again :) Sweden just seems full of beautiful trails...
Would love to get out on a long distance one with you one day! Heard there is a few good ones in Austria. 🇦🇹 😃
Fantastic presentation man, shots are truly inspiring!
Really appreciate that! Thank you 🙏🏼
Thank you for the video, looks awesome. Been wanting to do the triangle as well but will probably do it during the "open season" as I'm still new to this and looks risky with the water and snow crossings :)
That’s a safe bet! If you’re interested in staying in any of the mountain huts, I’d recommend looking into them in advance because it’s known to be very popular once the season opens. Wishing you all the best on your trip! 😃
Looking good Brother
Cheers dude! Hope you’ve been keeping on well. 😃
EPIC... GOING THIS WEEKEND CAN'T WAIT
Now THAT is epic! Hope you have a blast out there. 👊🏼
Thank you for the video! I am planing to climb Ben this summer. Really want to do the North face route, but worried that it could be to dangerous for a solo hiker.. On the website sounds scarry.
Glad you enjoyed it! I don’t know anything about the North Face climbing route. From experience tho, I would never suggest climbing solo and always have a buddy system.
@@chasedavidsson thank you! I will try to buddy up with someone
Britain is not a country
You're right! My apologies if I said it was. Sometimes words just slip off the tongue when I'm speaking. 😆
Looks stunning. Quick question, how did you go about getting clearance to fly the drone there? I would love to do so myself but seems to be banned on all the main websites I've looked.
Hey Alex! Here’s a great link that could potentially better answer your question - guidetolofoten.com/drone-flying-lofoten-norway/
Gorgeous
Appreciate you! 😃
I laughed at 13C being 'a bit chilly' that's red hot for Scotland
🤣
Really enjoyed that😊 In May we are planning to hike BN via Cmd, is this route more demanding than Snowdon via crib goh? THANKS
Thanks! I haven’t had the chance to do the Crib Goch route of Snowdon personally but I reckon this route would be easier in comparison. I have a friend who recently did Crib Goch in poor weather conditions and he still really enjoyed it.
Carn mor Dearg is pronounced Carn mor Jareg.
I knew I’d have no chance at pronouncing it correctly. 😅
I meant harder.
It's easier the other way round. It's easy to lose one's way OFF Ben Nevis.

Enjoyed that!
Thanks! So glad to hear that. 😃
This looks totally epic. I'm staying at the same place in June 2024 and will do something very similar. thank you for sharing this!!
You’re very welcome! You’re going to be in awe. Have a great time Jared! 😁
Planning on doing the Ben in October this year. My GF wants to the pony path as she's scared of the CMD route. Hopefully you're video will show her that it's actually a great achievable route!
Absolutely achievable! Prior to me undertaking this route, I was a bit worried but after living in Ireland for a year and realizing that their “very dangerous” routes were nothing more than a modest difficulty in many mountainous countries, I thought it would be good to show others the difficulties and/or challenges. You guys got this and would love to hear if you make it happen! 💪🏼 Have a great time!
I have done it aswell..its scary in places and actually froze with fear a couple of times but I'm glad I done it..but I would never do it again though..once was enough 😂
Great quality
Appreciate that!
Lovely cinematics
Thanks! Enjoy filming this type of way. 😊
I plan doing this route from north carpark via CMD and the arete and returning by the half way lochan as you've done. You have to be extremely lucky to get a clear day on the big Ben😊
Sounds like you have an incredible day ahead of you! You’re going to love every second of it. 😁
you had lovely weather! well done man
Absolutely! Actually came back with a gnarly sun burn from this day. 👋🏼😃
its a tough route! well done
Thanks Paul! Had a great time completing it!
I completed the CMD route a few years ago. Definitely a once in a life time experience.
So good right?! While I was a little hesitant without much information, I’m beyond glad I went for it!
Chase I've enjoyed your 2 videos - well done. Just one wee technical moan - we don't have "lakes" in Scotland - they're "lochs"! BTW - Gaelic pronunciations and meanings are easily available online - Stob Coire an t-sneachda is "peak of the coire of the snow"
Haha My pronunciation on Gaelic was bad enough, you want me to trying saying “loch” as well? 😉 Such a fascinating culture and language which I’m so happy to see throughout the country!
well done
Thank you! 😊

Went up the tourist route. Never again. Had backpack with supplies and spent 26hours in the shelter. It was worth the wait for the solitude and sunset. Thanks for the video good memories.
26 hours in the shelter? Yikes! Sometimes the more difficult routes are the more rewarding, sometimes not. Glad you still found some enjoyment during your adventure!
This racist and misogynistic name has been revoked by the community and it has been renamed Bald Eagle Peak. I suggest you remove your video to avoid any negative associations with racism and misogyny. You seem like a kind person and I.m sure you don't mean to be offensive.
Hey! Thanks so much for letting me know that the community has come together to change the name. I won't take the video down per say because at the time of making the video, this was in fact the reality but I will however change all titles associated. Would never purposely be offensive or aim to be racist/misogynistic and the video is aimed at promoting the beauty of the hike. Cheers for the update!
Wow amazing work buddy!
Thanks a lot Mel! Always beautiful to have something to look back on at the end of the year.
Really enjoyed that. Have done that route twice. it’s a stunning walk and far superior to the tourist route.
Couldn't agree more! Would love to get back there and experience it on a clear day on top but heard the odds of that will never be in my favour. Haha
Love to see your trip. We all miss you so much hope We can meet Soon. Your best keep up the good work. From Philip. miss you
Thank you guys so much! Hope to see all of you again soon too!

Its Epic we all miss you from Harstad
I miss Harstad and you all as well!
Interesting contrast to the video you did of 2023 :)
Such a change. This is was back when I filmed everything for no reason in particular. 😂
Crazy how much you did in just a year!
Norway’s landscape is unimaginable! Looking forward to what this year holds. 😁
Have done Croaghaun cliffs on Achill Island and Slieve league in mainland Ireland, both are great
Would love to get back over there one day to do some more hikes! Glad you were able to visit them both. 😊
Great video, shame you didn’t get the views,, as it is its own country with in the UK you should also include Northern Ireland’s highest Slieve Donard, Mourne Mountains
I can see myself returning one day for sure! Thanks for the recommendations!!
@@chasedavidssonThe summit of Ben Nevis on average is clear 1 out of every 10 days, I’ve done it 4 times and each time it was clear lol. I still haven’t done the CMD or North Face route

You legends! Miss you guys too. We’ll definitely meet again some day. 😁
So amazing!
Couldn’t believe it!
That lake is beautiful!!
Right!? It’s incredible that these places actually exist!
Beautiful country. Best wishes from wet and windy Lancashire, England.
Thanks! I swear I always get sunburnt when I visit England. Haha
Hiked up there many times in summer but never winter, so it's interesting to see this. There is usually still snow/ice on top in January and I once swam Lake Kootapatamba just below the summit, but only once as it is fed by melting ice!
You're wild for swimming in Lake Kootapatamba! You definitely got to get out there in winter, it's so good!
